Studio Policies

A Shared Commitment to Success

Learning music is most rewarding when students, families, and teachers work together. These policies are designed to create a positive learning environment, encourage consistent progress, and help every student get the most from their lessons.

Policies

  • Tuition is due on the first lesson of each month and reserves the student's weekly lesson time.

Monthly tuition is paid in advance and is non-refundable.

Payments may be made through Venmo: @jordan-learningdesign

  • Consistent attendance is essential for steady musical progress.

Students are expected to attend their scheduled weekly lesson.

Make-up lessons are offered on designated Saturdays as studio availability permits.

Students missing more than 15% of scheduled lessons may be asked to reevaluate their enrollment. Excessive absences may result in forfeiture of a student's reserved lesson time.

  • Consistent practice is essential for musical growth.

Students are expected to maintain a daily practice routine and record practice time in their lesson notebook.

    Recommended daily practice times:

    • 30-minute lessons: 15 minutes per day

    • 45-minute lessons: 20–25 minutes per day

    • 60-minute lessons: 30–45 minutes per day

Students who practice consistently typically progress more quickly and enjoy greater success in lessons.

  • Parents of students age 7 and younger are strongly encouraged to attend lessons whenever possible.

Parent involvement helps create more productive practice sessions, improves communication between lessons, and supports steady musical progress.

Parents are always welcome to observe lessons regardless of the student's age.

  • Materials

Students are responsible for the cost of all books and materials used in lessons.

To ensure that each student has appropriate resources for their level and goals, the studio will select and obtain all required method books, repertoire, and instructional materials. Material costs will be billed separately and reimbursed by the student.

Students are also required to provide a spiral-bound notebook and bring it to every lesson. The lesson notebook serves as an assignment guide, practice log, and communication tool between lessons.

  • Students are expected to participate in the studio's annual performance opportunities, which typically include two recitals each year.

Performance opportunities help students develop confidence, artistry, and stage presence while celebrating their musical growth.

  • Item description
  • Duet lessons are available for students of similar age and skill level.

Each student learns at their own instrument while developing collaboration, listening, and ensemble skills.

As students become more independent musicians, a transition to private lessons may be recommended.

  • Enrollment reserves a weekly lesson time that cannot easily be filled on short notice.

Students wishing to discontinue lessons must complete the remainder of the month for which tuition has already been paid.

No refunds or prorated tuition will be issued for missed or unused lessons.
